Welcome to the Blog
As I sit here in the final stages of completing my book, ‘Whispers Within Us,’ I can’t help but smile at how the Universe continues to send me confirmation that I’m exactly where I need to be. It’s funny how when you’re aligned with your purpose, signs seem to appear everywhere—if you’re paying attention, that is.
Just the other day, I started noticing these little chubby, round, fuzzy bumblebees everywhere. And I mean everywhere. At first, I didn’t think much of it—just summer bees doing their thing. But then something interesting happened.
I was listening to one of my spiritual readers on YouTube–I’m a Scorpio, by the way–and she was specifically talking to Scorpios. She said, “I just want you Scorpios to know, if you’re seeing bumblebees right now, or if you have seen bumblebees—if not, you’re seeing one now on the screen,” and she held up a tarot card with a bumblebee on it. “I’m letting you know that you, or your spirits, are letting you know that you are on the right path for great things to come. Keep going, your creative side is coming out.”
I literally got chills. Suddenly, I’d been getting these downloads in the last few days about the book I am writing, I was having dreams that felt significant, and creative ideas were flowing. It felt like pure reassurance that I am on the right track with all the time and energy I have put into this project.
But the bumblebees weren’t the only messengers showing up. The other day, three doves landed on my back patio steps. Now, doves always travel in pairs—they have a partner for life, and if that partner dies, they’re by themselves. So, seeing three together felt unusual enough that I had to look it up.
Google told me that seeing three doves together can be interpreted as a sign of faith, hope, and love, signifying peace, harmony, and joy. But here’s what really got my attention: “The presence of three doves together may also indicate Divine Alignment, reassurance from the spiritual realm, or the presence of guiding spirits.”
Divine Alignment. That’s the third time I’ve heard those exact words recently.
The second time was when I went on a float for a friend’s birthday. There were dragonflies everywhere on the water, eating the bugs. Two of them landed on my leg and just sat there forever—I’m not sure what they were doing, maybe mating. Then later, another one landed on my other leg. I took a picture and sent it to my son Jake, and being the little spiritual guy he is, he looked it up right away. “Mom,” he texted back, “it means you’re in Divine Alignment right now.”
When the same message comes through different messengers, I pay attention.
Another thing I find really interesting is that I’ve been having vivid dreams lately, which is unusual for me. I don’t normally remember my dreams, and if I do, they’re usually pretty vague. But these recent ones have been crystal clear, and they feel significant.
It’s funny—back in college, I was always having really vivid dreams, and I wanted to understand them better, so I bought three dream books at Barnes & Noble. I was going to get rid of them a couple years ago, but something told me to hang onto them. Now we can look everything up online instantly, but I’m glad I kept those books. There’s something about having the physical reminder of how long I’ve been paying attention to these kinds of messages.
Because here’s what I’ve learned about external whispers: they show up exactly when you need them most. Right now, as I’m in the final stages before publishing my book, there’s this vulnerable feeling—you know, that “what if nobody cares about this” voice that tries to creep in. But then the Universe sends bumblebees and doves and dragonflies, all carrying the same message: you’re on the right path, keep going, great things are coming!
But I think it’s important to mention that receiving these messages isn’t just about waiting for them to appear. Over the years, I’ve learned that you can actually ask for signs! And, when you do it right, you’ll receive clear, unmistakable guidance.
Whenever I need clarity or confirmation about something important in my life, I’ve developed a specific process to ask the universe for a sign that never fails me.
Before you ask the Universe for any sign, ask yourself these four essential questions:
This might sound obvious, but it’s crucial. You have to be willing to let go of your attachment to any particular outcome. If you’re secretly hoping for a specific answer, you’re not truly open to guidance—you’re just looking for validation. The Universe responds to genuine surrender and curiosity, not to our attempts to control the narrative.
Get clear on your motivation. Are you completely confused about a situation, or do you already know the answer deep down and just want confirmation? There’s nothing wrong with either, but knowing which it is helps you frame your request more effectively.
Here’s where you need to be both specific and time-bound. I always give the Universe a deadline—usually by the end of the day. For example, when I was going through my divorce process, I initially asked to see ‘a monarch butterfly’ for confirmation I was on the right path. But that didn’t feel quite right. So I got more specific: ‘I would like to see many monarch butterflies by the end of the day.’
As the day went on, I hadn’t seen any actual butterflies. But when I went for coffee with a girlfriend, her phone rang. After she finished her conversation and set her phone face-down on the table, I noticed the back of her phone case was covered in monarch butterflies. There was my sign—clear confirmation from the Universe, just not in the form I expected.
And that’s the key–being open to receiving your sign in whatever form the Universe sends it. You could ask for a unicorn or a dragon, and while you won’t see them walking around outside, you might see them on a poster, online, or like my butterflies, on a phone case.
This is the most important question. When the Universe gives you an answer, will you believe it? Will you trust it? And will you take action based on it? Your commitment to following through needs to be decided before you even ask. The Universe wants to guide you, but it also wants to know you’ll cooperate with the guidance you receive.
I learned this lesson when I was considering becoming a coach at the Napoleon Hill Institute. It was a significant investment in both money and time, so before I made my decision, I asked the Universe to show me a cardinal by the end of the day. As I drove home that evening, two beautiful cardinals flew directly in front of my windshield—it was like they swooped down specifically for me. I honored that sign by enrolling, and that path absolutely changed my life.
The beauty of these whispers is that they’re tailor-made for us. Because the Universe knows us intimately and sends us signs that resonate with who we are and what we need to hear. For me, it’s often through nature, through animals, through those quiet moments when I’m actually present enough to notice.
But external whispers don’t just come through visual signs. Sometimes they arrive as auditory messages—maybe a lyric in a song that resonates deeply with where you’re at in life, giving you insight you hadn’t considered. Or it might be something someone says, either to you or in a conversation you overhear, that provides exactly the nugget of inspiration or confirmation you needed.
Technology can also be a messenger. You might see an ad or receive a message that’s eerily related to something you’ve been contemplating. Sometimes you’ll find meaningful objects—like an old letter or forgotten trinket—that appear at just the right moment to stir emotions or offer unexpected clarity.
Even encounters with animals in unexpected contexts can feel like guidance. And nature itself often responds—like the sun breaking through clouds at a significant moment, offering quiet confirmation that you’re exactly where you need to be.
But remember, if you want to receive these messages, you have to be willing to listen. Not just with your ears, but with your heart. You have to trust that the guidance you receive, even if it’s subtle or unexpected, is meant for you.
Most importantly, you need to be truly present. As the saying goes, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” When you are fully present in the moment and paying attention to your connection with the Universe, it will guide you. This presence is the secret to picking up on external whispers in your daily life.
So here’s my challenge for you: Start by asking the Universe for a sign today. Make it specific, time-bound, and meaningful to you. But before you ask, go through those four questions first. Make sure you’re truly open to whatever answer comes, and commit to acting on the guidance you receive.
Then, stay alert throughout your day. Remember that your sign might not come in the exact form you imagined—be open to unexpected delivery methods. The Universe is creative in how it communicates with us.
The Universe is always speaking—it’s just up to us to pay attention. And when we do, when we slow down and become present and truly listen, we begin to recognize that guidance is all around us.
Remember, receiving no answer IS an answer. And when those signs do appear, pause to acknowledge them and really take them in. When it resonates, thank the Universe, and have the courage to follow the path it’s guiding you on.
My book, ‘Whispers Within Us’ will be available soon, and I can’t wait to share more about how to recognize and trust these messages in your own life. Until then, keep your eyes open, stay present, and trust that you’re exactly where you need to be.
The Universe has your back! It always has.
Love, Light, and Gratitude,
Kathleen
